The list of sustainable businesses has been gradually growing in Canada and certainly globally. BestSports strives to become a forerunner in our industry
and join in Canada’s Green movement.

About one-third of the plastics used in Canada are for single-use or short-lived products and packaging. In fact, in Canada, up to 15 billion plastic bags are used every year. This is devastating Canada’s natural habitats and it’s animals such as; sea birds, marine mammals, an array of fish, and sea turtles. According to the Canadian

Wildlife Federation, Leatherback Sea Turtles usually feed on Lion’s Mane Jellyfish and Moon Jellyfish. However, Leatherbacks are indiscriminate so they will feed on anything that resembles jellyfish. This may be why Leatherbacks swallow marine debris such as plastic bags and deflated balloons. The plastic can block their gut causing them to starve, or it can prevent them from properly absorbing the nutrients in their diet. This is but one of the many devastating examples of how we are impacting the world we live in. The Canadian Environmental Protection Act will be taking big steps to reduce plastic waste by banning single-use plastic bags along with other measures by as early as 2021.

Green Canada - White Point, NS, Canada

At BestSports, we plan to practice what we preach through our environmental pledge, Green Canada. We launched a trial in 2019 with great success by replacing our single-use plastic shopping bags with reusable packaging for one of our customized products. We are now excited to be working on a non-plastic solution for other products too.

We have these two things in mind: our customers and our environment, and we are committed to being 100% plastic-free by 2025.

We not only owe this to you, our customers but owe the planet this pledge as well, as it continues to motivate us every day to do just a little more. Without our community and the environment serving as our foundation, we would not be where we are today.

Please join us in our commitment to positively impact our environment, even if it just one bag at a time.

We live in one world. We share one future. We can do this together. Go Green Canada!
